Medication/Peptide Questions
How Do I Know Peptides are For Me?
Does insurance cover the cost of hormone replacement therapy?
Insurance coverage for hormone replacement therapy can vary depending on the individual’s insurance plan and specific circumstances. It is recommended that you check with your insurance provider to determine if HRT is covered under your plan. We also recommend that you call and check with Amazing Meds staff about our acceptance of your specific insurance coverage.
Why topical treatment vs. injections?
We believe in giving our patients maximum benefits while simultaneously minimizing overall risk. Therefore, some medications are more effectively and safely absorbed into the skin topically vs. entering the body via capsules or injections.
What exactly is hormone optimization and why is it important?
Hormone optimization involves balancing hormone levels in the body to improve overall health and well-being. Hormones play a crucial role in various bodily functions, including but not limited to metabolism, mood, energy levels, and sexual function. When hormone levels are imbalanced, it can lead to a range of symptoms and health issues. Optimizing your hormones can help alleviate these unwanted symptoms and improve your quality of life.

What makes your medications different from birth control or something my gynecologist would prescribe me?
The hormones we provide are bioidentical; this means they are much safer for long-term use. Bioidentical hormones have a high compatibility rate, meaning they act nearly identical to the hormones your body would naturally produce. This high compatibility rate is ideal for hormones because it means your body is more likely to fully utilize the hormones, resulting in optimization of your overall health.

Weight Loss Questions
What is Semaglutide and How Does it Work?
Semaglutide is a medication originally developed to treat type 2 diabetes, but it has also been found effective for weight management. It works by mimicking a hormone called GLP-1 that targets areas of the brain involved in regulating appetite and food intake, helping you feel fuller longer.
How is Semaglutide Administered?
Semaglutide is administered via a subcutaneous injection, typically once a week. Your healthcare provider will guide you on how to properly inject the medication at home.
When Can I Expect to See Results on Semaglutide?
Most people begin to notice weight loss within the first few weeks of treatment. However, the timeline for visible results can vary based on individual factors such as starting weight, dosage, and adherence to lifestyle changes.
What is the Recommended Maximum Dosage?
The maximum recommended dosage of Semaglutide for weight management is typically 2.4 mg per week. Your Amazing Meds provider will start you on a lower dose and gradually increase it to reduce the likelihood of side effects.
What Side Effects Should I Be Aware Of From Semaglutide?
Common side effects of Semaglutide may include:
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Headaches
- Bloating
- Heartburn
- Stomach discomfort
- A feeling of fullness
These side effects often diminish as your body adjusts to the medication, but it’s important to discuss any persistent or severe symptoms with your healthcare provider.
Will I Regain the Weight After Stopping Semaglutide?
Stopping Semaglutide may result in weight regain if lifestyle changes are not maintained. It’s essential to continue healthy eating and regular physical activity even after discontinuing the medication to sustain your results.
Do I Need to Adjust My Diet or Lifestyle While Taking Semaglutide?
Yes, for the best results, it’s recommended that you follow a balanced diet and engage in regular physical activity while taking Semaglutide. These lifestyle changes can enhance the effectiveness of the medication and help you achieve long-term weight management.
Is Semaglutide Safe for Long-Term Use?
Clinical trials have shown that Semaglutide is safe for long-term use when prescribed and monitored by a healthcare provider. However, ongoing monitoring and regular check-ups are recommended to ensure continued safety and effectiveness.
Can Semaglutide Be Used with Other Weight Loss Medications?
In some cases, Semaglutide can be used in conjunction with other weight loss medications, but this should only be done under the guidance of your healthcare provider to avoid potential interactions and side effects.
How Does Semaglutide Compare to Other Weight Loss Treatments?
Semaglutide has been shown to be highly effective in clinical trials, often leading to greater weight loss than traditional diet and exercise alone. Compared to other pharmacological treatments, Semaglutide may offer more significant and sustained weight loss, especially when combined with lifestyle changes. However, your healthcare provider can help you weigh the pros and cons of different treatment options.
Who is an Ideal Candidate for Semaglutide?
Ideal candidates for Semaglutide are adults who are overweight or obese and have weight-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. It may also be suitable for individuals who have not had success with other weight loss methods. Your healthcare provider can help determine if Semaglutide is the right choice for you.
What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?
If you miss a dose of Semaglutide, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it’s within five days of your scheduled dose. If more than five days have passed, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double up on doses to make up for a missed one.
Can I Drink Alcohol While Taking Semaglutide?
While moderate alcohol consumption may be permissible, it’s important to consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice. Alcohol can exacerbate certain side effects of Semaglutide, such as nausea and stomach discomfort, and may interfere with your weight loss goals.

What are compounded medications, and how do they differ from commercially available, brand-name medications?
Compounded medications are tailored specifically to each patient, created in a compounding facility that is licensed by the state Board of Pharmacy or the FDA, based on a prescription from a licensed healthcare professional. These medications are required to use only ingredients sourced from FDA-approved facilities and must be tested for potency, sterility, and purity, particularly when sterile compounds are involved. While compounded medications are legal, they do not undergo pre-market approval by the FDA because they are not produced in large batches for the general public. Instead, they are made based on specific prescriptions from medical professionals. As a result, the dosage, route of administration, and efficacy may vary from commercially available, brand-name medications.
